Sol de America vs Nacional Montevideo
Competition: Copa Sudamericana
Date: 19 July 2018
Kick-off: 02:45 CET
Sol de América eliminated Independiente Medellín in the first round of the competition, beating them 2-0 at home, and losing 3-1 in Colombia (after taking the lead early in the game). It’s that away goal that sent them through to the next round. They finished 6th in Paraguay’s Apertura, winning their last two matches early June. All Copa Sudamericana clubs were allowed three changes to the roster they had for the first round matches, and Sol included in the updated list exactly three new players, Argentinian attacker Adrián Martínez, central midfielder Édgar Ferreira, and – also Argentinian – defender Franco Lazzaroni. All three arrived at Sol recently. Ferreira came from Independiente de Campo Grande, along with Milciades Portillo and Andrés Duarte, who, though, were left out of the Sudamericana list.
Nacional Montevideo haven’t played in the Copa Sudamericana since 2015. They are present in the second round this season because they finished third in their Copa Libertadores group. Actually, they are still… paying for their 3-1 defeat to Estudiantes on the last day of the group stage. They had Christian Oliva and Gonzalo Bergessio sent-off, meaning that they are both unavailable for this match, with Diego Arismendi and Sebastián Fernández expected to start in their place. Gonzalo Castro and Rafael García are the two new faces at Nacional, and both are also expected to start. Most changes have to do with the defensive line, with former captain Diego Polenta having left the club. Nacional won the Apertura early May, won the so-called “Intermediate Round” as well, a month later, a… mini tournament. Actually, they have won their last five official matches, not conceding in the last four.

Sol de America vs Nacional Montevideo: Head to head Stats
Sol have hosted Nacional once before. It was in 1992, a Copa Libertadores group stage match, which the Montevideo side won 3-1.
Sol de America vs Nacional Montevideo: Prediction
I’m not sure about the changes in Sol’s roster. I feel Nacional are better “equipped” to get the result they want in this game. Plus, the match is held at Defensores del Chaco, not Sol’s real home. Defensores is a big stadium which will be anything but a… cauldron.
Sol de America vs Nacional Montevideo: Betting Tips
Nacional’s win in “draw no bet” is at 2.00. Their double chance pays a very good (for a double chance, especially considering the level of both teams), 1.53.
