South Korea vs Mexico
Competition: 2018 World Cup finals
Date: 23 June 2018
Kick-off: 17:00 CET
It took Sweden a VAR-produced decision (penalty) to beat South Korea, but truth is, the Asians were inferior on the pitch during most of the match, and if there was one team that deserved to pick up all three points, that was definitely Sweden. South Korea seemed to lack… ideas, when attacking. They seemed predictable, and rather easy to deal with. The fact that they have already lost a game before facing the two strongest teams of the group, Mexico and Germany, has more than… limited their chances of finishing in the top-2. They may still surprise us, but given how they played against Sweden, I can’t imagine them score past Mexico. Friendly games and World Cup opener combined, they have now scored just one goal in their last four matches.
I guess most people were very-very surprised to see Mexico beat Germany the other day. Here, the main tip in that preview was Mexico’s double chance. Truth be written, a draw felt much more probable to me than a Mexico victory, but “El Tri” were awesome, and a bit lucky when needed, to avoid conceding. Huge win for them, a win that has been called by many back home as the single biggest of their history in World Cup finals(!), no matter if it was a group stage match. It was a victory over the reigning World champions, a team tipped heavily to make it at least to the semifinals this year as well. The question for Mexico in this match is how will they deal with the fact that South Korea won’t try to… dominate ball possession, unlike Germany. Mexico will need to show more creativity against what is expected to be a very tight defense.

South Korea vs Mexico: Head to head Stats
South Korea and Mexico have met 12 times in the past. Four wins for the Koreans, six for Mexico, and two draws. Total goals, 24-15 for the Mexicans.
South Korea vs Mexico: Prediction
I expect Mexico to win the game, and not just that, but to do so rather comfortably.
South Korea vs Mexico: Betting Tips
A simple Mexico victory pays 1.70, which may be enough to some to avoid taking a bigger risk. Combined with a clean sheet it goes up to 2.50. Leaving Mexico’s win aside, their clean sheet is at 2.00, which I find awesome, keeping in mind South Korea’s very poor scoring record lately.
