Spartak Moscow vs PAOK
Competition: UEFA Champions League
Date: 14 August 2018
Kick-off: 19:30 CET
What an… insane game that one was, last week, in Thessaloniki. Spartak Moscow took the lead in the 7th minute, and 10 minutes later they found themselves… touching the ticket to the playoffs, when Quincy Promes made it 0-2!! Incredibly, by halftime, the Russian side was 3-2 down!!! They did have a few chances to score a third goal, they missed a penalty in the second half (Promes saw his shot saved by the goalkeeper and then by the post), so they were left feeling they deserved better, but even so, those two goals they scored in Thessaloniki, may prove crucial. On Saturday they beat Anzhi 1-0 at home. They scored their goal in the 70th minute, with Anzhi playing with nine(!) men by that time.
PAOK’s win (2.15) was my tip last week, and 17 minutes into the game it looked like… the ship had sailed for them, in the Champions League qualifiers. Backed by their fans who filled up Toumba Stadium to the brim, they found it in them to be 3-2 up by halftime!! As previously mentioned, Spartak missed a penalty in the second half, a penalty gifted to them by a very careless (if not downright idiotic) Yevgen Khacheridi foul inside the box. On the other hand, PAOK had missed a golden opportunity before that, to make it 4-2. All things considered, the Thessaloniki side earned themselves a deserved advantage. Not huge one, but real one. In the previous round they beat Basel 2-1 at home, their coach, Razvan Lucescu, said they would go to Switzerland to win the return leg, many doubted, but PAOK left Basel with a 0-3 triumph. Lucescu said the same thing after that 3-2 last week, and I’m pretty sure less people doubt him now. Vieirinha, PAOK’c captain, is fit to play, having missed the last two qualifiers, a huge boost for the Greek side.

Spartak are considered big favorites to win the game. Personally, I’m leaving winners and losers aside.
Spartak Moscow vs PAOK: Betting Tips
“Both teams to score”, at 1.90, is my main tip. Combined with “over 2.5” it goes up to 2.50. “No” on “Spartak to keep a clean sheet” is at 1.61. As you can see, I’m backing PAOK almost… blindly to score, at least once. Last but not least, PAOK’s “over 1.5” pays an awesome 4.00.
