Sport Recife vs Corinthians
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 20 May 2018
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
On seven points from five matches thus far, Sport Recife are having a… decent start of the season, being typical… Sport, in the sense that they do great – if not thrive – at home, but look very weak far from it. Last weekend they lost 2-0 at Cruzeiro, and earlier in the season they had lost 3-0 at América Mineiro as well. Coach Claudinei Oliveira seemed ready to change his scheme in the last training sessions, giving center-forward Rafael Marques a spot in the first 11. Central midfielder Fellipe Bastos and left midfielder Marlone are unavailable because of a clause in their contract (they play at Sport on loan from Corinthians).
These are… eventful days at Corinthians. Midweek, they butchered Deportivo Lara in Venezuela, 2-7(!!), making even their coach, Fábio Carille, admit that he hadn’t even imagined such a score. The biggest news though, these days, have to do with the coach himself. He is about to leave the club, Corinthians seem… resigned, knowing that they can’t compete with Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal in terms of money offered to their coach. His departure is reported to be a matter of days. The board of directors seem to have decided to back Carille’s assistant, Osmar Loss. It remains to be seen if Corinthians will remain at the level they have been the last year and a half, winning the title easily last season in the Série A, and starting 2018 as well on the right foot, winning the Paulista championship, and qualifying or the last 16 of the Copa Libertadores. Important detail; Carille didn’t hide that he will make at least five changes to the starting lineup, compared to who started midweek. Writing that “Corinthians will play with reserves” at Sport is not 100% accurate, but… truth is, their lineup will be an “alternative” one.

Sport Recife vs Corinthians: Prediction
Sport have an awesome record at home, and they will face a Corinthians side with several regulars missing. Even so, I trust the visitors to leave Recife undefeated.
Sport Recife vs Corinthians: Betting Tips
Corinthians’ double chance is at 1.65, and their win in “draw no bet” pays 2.30. It’s true that they will play with several reserves, but don’t be fooled, many of them would be regulars at Sport.
