Sport Rosario vs Cerro
Competition: Copa Sudamericana
Date: 20 February 2018
Kick-off: 23:15 CET
Excellent timing by Sport Rosario… After earning just one point from their first two matches in Peru’s championship, last weekend they showed their best side, at least in the second half. They hosted UT Cajamarca, failed to take the lead in the first half, but the second one was… pure party for the hosts, who finished the game at 4-0(!). Tulio Etchemaite scored twice from the penalty spot, before adding a third one in the dying minutes of the match completing a hat-trick for him, and a resounding win for his team. The timing was/is perfect, as they are getting ready to play the club’s first official international game ever(!). They finished 7th last season in Peru, combining both halves, and that’s how they earned a ticket to the Copa Sudamericana.
Cerro finished 5th last season in Uruguay, earning the first of the country’s four tickets to the Copa Sudamericana. They have started the new season with two draws in as many matches, including a goalless one at Fénix almost ten days ago. Before that, Leandro Zazpe had saved them against Liverpool at home, equalising 1-1 in added time. Important detail, Cerro didn’t play last weekend, their home game against El Tanque Sisley got postponed, leaving them with extra time to get ready for the first leg against Sport Rosario. Last season they played in the Copa Libertadores qualifiers, but got eliminated early. Lost to Unión Española 3-2 at home, and then lost again 2-0 in Santiago, Chile.

Sport Rosario vs Cerro: Head to head Stats
This is Sport Rosario’s first CONMEBOL competition match ever.
Sport Rosario vs Cerro: Prediction
Sport Rosario are considered favourites to win the game, but personally I’m backing the Uruguayans of Club Atlético Cerro to earn at least a draw.
Sport Rosario vs Cerro: Betting Tips
Between Sport Rosario’s win at 1.60 and Cerro’s double chance at 2.25, I have little doubt to suggest the latter. I feel the visitors have what it takes to keep the game under control, more or less, and leave Peru with a draw. I don’t really expect them to win, but I’m staying with their double chance, feeling that 1.78 is ok enough to avoid taking an even bigger risk (draw alone).
