Stjarnan vs Espanyol
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Date: 1 August 2019
Kick-off: 21:15 CET
“Espanyol and over 3.5 goals”, at 1.80, was the tip here last week, mentioning that the way I see things, if you’ve been playing nothing but friendly matches for weeks, and you finally play an official match, in an international competition, even against a lowly opponent, you’re so eager to… show things that you don’t pull the brake after taking a 1-0 or 2-0 lead. Stjarnan lost 4-0, and the only thing I found surprising was that they were drawing at halftime(!). Stjarnan lived a dream until the 49th minute, when Espanyol finally opened the scoring. Less than 20 minutes later, the Icelanders were 4-0 down. With that in mind, that 4-0 was not the worst that could have happened to them, as Espanyol failed to add a fifth one in the last 25 (added time included) minutes.
Espanyol finished the game last week on 22 attempts (Stjarnan had three), eight of those were on target, corners won were 9-0, all numbers that show how dominant the Spanish side were, but as previously mentioned, they had to wait until the 49th minute to take the lead. David Gallego, their coach, decided to take all his regulars with him to Iceland, not because he is afraid Stjarnan may… come back, but because the championship in Spain hasn’t started yet, his team need official matches to start finding rhythm, and this looks like a perfect opportunity. Gallego looked very-very serious in his last Press conference before the group flew to Iceland, repeating several times that Espanyol want to win, they will approach this return leg as if the first one ended in a goalless draw.

I’m buying what Gallego said the other day, that Espanyol will approach this game as if the first leg ended in a draw.
Stjarnan vs Espanyol: Betting Tips
“Espanyol and under 3.5 goals” is at 2.22. I do see them win, comfortably, but I expect them to score less than last week.
