Stoke vs Crystal Palace
Competition: Premier League
Date: 11 February 2017
Kick-off: 16:00 CET
After picking up their first win under Sam Allardyce against Bournemouth, there would have been this feeling that their time was coming to escape the drop, but a hammering at the hands of another relegation threatened team Crystal palace are really not in a good place as they prepare to face a decent Stoke side.
It was first a 2-0 win over Bournemouth for Allardyce, but the 4-0 drubbing that followed at the hands of Sunderland put things quickly back into perspective as things have gone from bad to worse for Palce. They are now second bottom of the League, with only Sunderland below them, but Sunderland after beating them have picked up the same number of points as Palace. The thing is, Place used to lose games but score goals, and thus still have a chance, now their goals have dried up as well and it is just not a good place for Palace to be in. They will again struggle in this game, as they are away, and they are playing Stoke who have improved steadily this season.
Stoke will welcome Pale with open arms as they know there is not much of a goal threat and they will also feel this is an easy three points. The Potters have hit a little bit of a lull themselves which has seen them out of the Top 10 after they lost to West Brom following two draws. The draws were to Manchester United and Everton, so not the worst results, but the loss was a little disappointing against a tea they would have measured themselves against. Now, they can rest easy a bot against a poor Crystal Palace side and it will give them a chance to break their spell of not winning.
Stoke vs Crystal Palace: Head-to-Head Stats
Stoke do not have the historic advantage at all in this fixture, they lost 4-1 in the first encounter of this season, and overall they have only ever beaten Palace once, and there has also only ever been a single draw. Palace have thus won the other five out of the seven games they have played.
Stoke vs Crystal Palace: Prediction
This will be a really good chance for Stoke to break that poor historical record against Palace as they have to feel really are the favourites. Palace won’t threaten the goals too much and Stoke will be determined, it should be an easy win for the Potters to get themselves back into the Top 10.
Stoke vs Crystal Palace: Tips
Palace have barely scored a goal in anger under Allardyce so don’t expect them to suddenly turn it on here, It should be an easy 2-0 win for the Potters with no goals coming from Palace.
