Stoke vs Everton
Competition: Premier League
Date: 01 February 2017
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Everton have got their own rich vein of form as they look to make the big leap up into the likes of sixth and fifth on the log, but they will need their good work to continue in a tricky fixture at Stoke.
Stoke themselves have crept into the top 10 currently sitting just two spots behind Everton in ninth, however, there is no threat of a direct leapfrog from Stoke over Everton as there are some pretty big margins around this area of the table, it is more about staying afloat for Stoke who have four teams below them who can catch them with a single win. Still, it has been a great ride from Stoke who were fighting in the bottom three at a stage and should be congratulated for what they have done, but high in their agenda will be beaten teams that are above them on the log such as Everton.
Everton are undefeated in their last five games and in fact have won four of those for a good haul of points. They have beaten some good teams and picked up points when they were on offer. The jewel in their last five games will be their 4-0 win over City, but they won’t be happy that their only blemish was against a poor Hull side. Everton have rediscovered their scoring mojo and a lot of that has to do with Romelu Lukaku finding the back of the net on more occasion as well as their defence tightening up. They have scored 12 goals in five games and just conceded two.
Stoke vs Everton: Head-to-Head Stats
Everton have the numerical advantage when it comes to wins in this fixture, but overall it is relatively close as there have been 17 games and seven of those have gone the way of the Toffees. The other 10 games have been split five each between stoke and draws. When these teams met in the first half of this season it was a tight 1-0 win for Everton at Goodison.
Stoke vs Everton: Prediction
Stoke could probably beat Everton on their best day, but with the way that the Toffees are going their form looks indomitable, so perhaps this will be a home loss for Stoke, but it is bound to be a close one with none of these teams ready to give up an inch. Expect this game to go to Everton, but for Stoke to be heartbroken by the result after a spirited fight.
Stoke vs Everton: Tips
If Everton do go on to win this game it will probably be off the back of a Lukaku goal so back the big man for an anytime score.
