Sunderland vs Leicester
Competition: Premier League
Date: 03 December 2016
Kick-off: 16:00 CET
Sunderland managed to get that all important first win eventually, and even backed it up with another, but then fell back off the wagon expectantly against Liverpool. They can count that game as a no-chancer, but they will now look to get the better of the struggling defending champions Leicester.
The Foxes’ poor season continues, made even more glaring from their dream run last season, as well as their amazing form in the Champions League. Currently in fourth, it has been a year more comparable to the season before last where Leicester were staring down the barrel of relegation. They have won just three games, drawn four, and lost six – double the amount of games they lost all season in their title winning one. Even Leicester recent form has been poor as they most recently drew to Middlesbrough, and lost two in a row against Watford and West Brom.
Sunderland will be mighty relieved to have picked up a win, and then another, after making history for not winning a single game for 10 matches. Their two wins of the season came against Bournemouth, 2-1 and then a 3-0 thumping of Hull, away and home respectively, but the Liverpool match was always going to be a bridge too far. Leicester, by their actions last year, should be considered a threatening team, but they have been less bite than expected, and Sunderland will feel, at home, they have every chance to topple the champions.
Sunderland vs Leicester: Head-to-Head Stats
Leicester will be able to pull in their historical advantage over the Black Cats, seeing as in 12 matches they have only lost twice to Sunderland. There have been five draw and five wins for the Foxes. Last season, Leicester did the double against SUnderland in first a 4-2 stunner at home, and then a 2-0 win away from home.
Sunderland vs Leicester: Prediction
Sunderland will be desperate to get back to winning ways, but that is not to say that Leicester won’t be either, their 2-2 draw to Middlesbrough was more of a frustration for the defending champs. Sunderland are a bit tenuous in their drive to win games, while Leicester have that champion equality. This one could well end in a scoring draw.
Sunderland vs Leicester: Tips
Jamie Vardy has been on a goal drought this season, something that does not suit him well, but he again has huge quality and will get firing sooner rather than later. His odds will be big to score, so take a gamble on him to get one against the Black Cats.
