Sydney FC vs Suwon Bluewings
Competition: AFC Champions League
Date: 14 February 2018
Kick-off: 09:30 CET
Sydney FC were the… bosses in Australia’s football scene last season, and this season hasn’t been any different. Not only they are leading in the table, but they are 12 whole points ahead of second-placed Newcastle Jets. Especially these last weeks they have been in… scary form, beating Melbourne Victory 3-1 away from home, Wellington Phoenix 4-0 in Sydney, and just last weekend, Melbourne City 4-0 on the road, 11-1 goals in three matches. This is their fourth appearance in the AFC Champions League. In 2016 they were drawn into a very tough group with Guangzhou Evergrande, Urawa Reds and Pohang Steelers, but still managed to qualify for the last-16. There, they got eliminated by Shandong Luneng, despite not losing any of the two legs. Draw, 1-1, in China, another draw, 2-2, back home.
A major difference between Sydney FC and Suwon Bluewings is that the Korean side has played just one official match since November 19, the AFC Champions League playoff against FLC Thanh Hoa from Vietnam, two weeks ago. It took them 44 minutes to open the scoring, but somehow were leading 2-0 by halftime, scoring twice more early in the second half, before Dejan Damjanović, a guy who made his name in Korea playing for Seoul FC, added the cherry on top, in the 86th minute. Final score, 5-1. Suwon finished third in last season’s K-League, a position good enough to give them a ticket to the AFC CL playoffs. This is their 9th appearance in the competition. Last season they finished third in their group behind Kawasaki Frontale and Guangzhou Evergrande.

Sydney FC vs Suwon Bluewings: Head to head Stats
Sydney FC have hosted Suwon Bluewings once before. It was in 2011, an AFC Champions League group stage match that ended in a goalless draw.
Sydney FC vs Suwon Bluewings: Prediction
Sydney FC are in such an awesome form that it’s hard to go against them. Suwon Bluewings are a more than just decent team, but against this Sydney FC, I feel they have little chance of leaving Australia with a point.
Sydney FC vs Suwon Bluewings: Betting Tips
Sydney FC’s win pays 2.00. They have scored 11 goals in their last three matches, so it’s tempting to back them to score enough to push this game over 2.5, but even 2.00 is good enough, I reckon.
