Talleres Cordoba vs Aldosivi
Competition: Argentina Superliga
Date: 9 November 2018
Kick-off: 23:00 CET
Gonzalo Maroni, the 19-year-old attacking midfielder who is playing for Talleres Córdoba on loan (until June 2019) from Boca Juniors, will never forget last weekend’s 0-1 win at San Lorenzo; he scored his first goal for Talleres, and what a goal it was, from outside the box, perfect strike in the 21st minute, a goal that proved enough to give the Córdoba side all three points. The teenager had scored in May 2017 with Boca as well, in a 3-0 home win over Arsenal Sarandí (another memorable day for him). Talleres had lost three away games in a row (conceding two goals in each one) before their visit to San Lorenzo. They are 14th in the table, on 14 points from 11 matches. Defensive midfielder Andrés Cubas got sent off deep into added time, and is unavailable.
Aldosivi had a first half to forget last weekend at home against Banfield. They were 0-3 down at halftime, they did improve somewhat at the start of the second half (their coach made two changes that seemed to restore balance on the field), but missed their chances, and conceded again. When Denis Stracqualursi scored in the 79th minute, the score was already 0-4 for Banfield. Aldosivi claim they should have been given a penalty in the 21st minute, and I think they are right. They were already losing 0-2, but if they had shortened the gap in the score at that point, the game could have taken a very different path. They are 12th in the table, on 15 points from 11 matches, having lost four of their last five ones.
