Toronto vs Colorado Rapids
Competition: CONCACAF Champions League
Date: 28 February 2018
Kick-off: 02:00 CET
Goal, assist, not much more Sebastian Giovinco could have done last week, leading Toronto FC to a “clear” 2-0 win at Colorado Rapids, a victory that has left the Canadian side with… a foot and a half into the quarterfinals. Toronto didn’t have that many more chances than Colorado, someone could say the chances were equally split, but Giovinco is nothing like any of the Rapids’ strikers and attacking midfielders. His goal was a product of pure class, and his assist pretty much the same. Toronto need to commit football suicide to get eliminated after that 2-0 last week. They basically need to look… decent, focused, and if they do so, most probably they will even beat Colorado again. Toronto just signed Ager Aketxe, a 24-year-old Basque attacking midfielder, a product of Athletic Bilbao’s academy. Toronto’s people believe he can be the best newcomer to the MLS this season. Dutch right full-back Gregory van der Wiel may have to wait for his competitive debut with the Toronto FC jersey. He didn’t travel to Colorado last week because his wife was expecting, he missed several training sessions, and his presence in the return leg is a major doubt.
There was one thing even poorer than the attendance last week in Denver (the stands were practically empty, due to the freezing weather conditions and a lack of interest from the Colorado Rapids fans in the competition as well, most probably); the hosts finishes. They had at least two huge chances to score, they had smaller chances as well, but they missed all of them, and missed them badly. They got punished, twice actually, which felt… proper, appropriate, after those goals they missed. They are left with a mountain to climb, obliged not just to beat Toronto in Canada, but by at least two goals. Good luck with that…

Toronto are the better of the two teams, they are playing at home, “cool” after their 2-0 win last week in Denver, and I expect them to beat Colorado again.
