Tottenham vs Borussia Dortmund
Competition: UEFA Champions League
Date: 13 February 2019
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Loss to Chelsea on penalties in the League Cup, loss to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup three days later, the last week of January was bad for Tottenham, but they took perfect advantage of three home games in a row in the Premier League to… remind everyone that they remain a top three team. They are on 60 points from 26 matches, five points behind co-leaders Manchester City and Liverpool, with City having played one game more than they other two. Last weekend, Mauricio Pochettino’s side beat Leicester 3-1 at home, being the much better team on the pitch. Recently, the Argentinian manager… half-complained about the fact that the club haven’t spent on strengthening the squad the last 12 months, but signings-aside, Tottenham remain a top four team, in times that Arsenal, for example, and Chelsea, are struggling to… keep up.
Last weekend I suggested Hoffenheim’s double chance at Borussia Dortmund, I just didn’t trust the Bundesliga leaders to win, but… did I expect Hoffenheim to earn a point after going 3-0 down in the 66th minute?! Hell no… Unbelievably, they fought back, made it 3-1 in the 75th minute, 3-2 in the 83rd, and finally equalized in the 87th, leaving Dortmund’s players, fans, coach, in disbelief. Borussia remain first in the table, but Bayern Munich won, and are now five points behind them, with 13 matches left. Right now, most of all, Dortmund need to… react, leave last weekend’s shock aside, and show what they are made of.

Tottenham vs Borussia Dortmund: Head to head Stats
Tottenham have hosted Dortmund twice before, both times the last three years; Borussia won 1-2 in 2016, in the Europa League, and Tottenham won 3-1 in 2017, in the Champions League group stage.
Tottenham vs Borussia Dortmund: Prediction
It won’t be easy, but I do expect Tottenham to win the game.
Tottenham vs Borussia Dortmund: Betting Tips
A simple Tottenham win is at 2.35, my main tip. Combined with “over 1.5” it pays 2.80. Given that Dortmund tend to score a lot (but recently concede a lot as well), it’s tempting to go for more goals, but even these 2.35 and 2.80 are good enough, I reckon, to avoid taking a bigger risk.
