Treviso vs Leinster
Competition: Guinness Pro12
Date: 12 January 2017
Kick-off: 13:30 CET
While Leinster may not be in the top two race, they are still third and a team to be feared, and at the same time, while Treviso are not bottom of the log, they are second-bottom and really putting on another poor performance as the Italian sides usually do.
Treviso were not included in the Champions Cup this year, and perhaps that is why they are at least above Zebre, but it is still not much of margin as they sit on 11 points after 13 games and that translates into two wins all year. Treviso, and Zebre for that matter, constantly struggle in the Pro 12 and this year it does not seem to be any different. Now, although they are at home, they have to deal with a Leinster side who are eight points clear of second place Ospreys, but more importantly, they are trying to get a gap above the chasing pack.
Leinster are a Championship side and have won both the Pro 12 and the Champions Cup before so they are full of class. There is still time for them to catch up to the leading Munster – and major rivals – as well as the second place Welsh Ospreys. Leinster have only lost three games all season as well as the top half of the Pro 12 is very tight and competitive. Leinster will not fear Treviso, even though they are at home, and in fact they will be looking for a full house of points and a chance to cut loose even with a lot of Irish players missing to the national team.
Treviso vs Leinster: Head-to-Head Stats
Unsurprisingly the historical advantage is with the three-time Pro12 Champions Leinster. In 13 games Treviso have won just one game, as well as pulled off a draw, but the other 11 games have all easily belonged to the Irish side.
Treviso vs Leinster: Prediction
Leinster supply a lot of players to the irish side, but their depth won’t even really be tested because their second-string team would probably still be a better side than Treviso. Treviso will need to try and limit damage rather than actually go for the win, and being at home, that is the only hope they will really have.
Treviso vs Leinster: Tips
Leinster are a team full of points, and they have scored the second most next to Ospreys, so they will look to really go for it against a weak Italian side.
