Universidad Catolica vs Rosario Central
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 14 March 2019
Kick-off: 01:30 CET
Universidad Católica got totally outplayed by Libertad in Asunción last week, losing 4-1. Less than four minutes into the game they were already 2-0 down(!), they did get a goal back before halftime from the penalty spot, had their moment to equalize, missed it, and then got… punished, conceding twice more. That 4-1 matched their worst ever debut in the Copa Libertadores group stage, but they pointed out the… self-evident, things will look very different for them in the group table (and in the mind of their fans) if they beat Central at home. On Saturday, they beat Unión La Calera 1-0, thanks to a Carlos Lobos goal in the 87th minute. It was their third win in four matches in Chile’s championship.
Rosario Central’s players agreed after the end of last week’s 1-1 draw at home with Gremio that it was good not to lose on their group stage debut, underlying that the team are in the middle of a… transition. Ferrari, Bauza’s successor as Central coach, is trying to push a more… attack-minded plan, pressing higher up, something the players seem to like, but as they said, it will take some time to get used to that. Time is something they don’t have in their championship, where they are sitting far below the Copa Sudamericana positions, with just three matches left. Last weekend they drew 0-0 at Godoy Cruz, a game in which both teams, clearly, had their mind mostly on their Copa Libertadores games.

Universidad Católica and Rosario Central have never played against each other before.
Universidad Catolica vs Rosario Central: Prediction
Between the hosts’ win at 2.02 and Central’s double chance at 1.83, I have little doubt choosing the latter.
Universidad Catolica vs Rosario Central: Betting Tips
I consider Central… efficient (in a cynical way) enough to keep this game at 0-0 and snatch a point in Santiago. As previously mentioned, their double chance is at 1.83, going up to 2.55 if combined with “under 2.5 goals”.
