Vasco da Gama vs Atletico Mineiro
Competition: Brazil Serie A
Date: 16 November 2017
Kick-off: 00:45 CET
Vasco da Gama finally returned to their real home, Sao Januario, the atmosphere was warm, the weather was great, they had just beaten Santos away from home playing a very good match, but for 76 minutes, no matter what they tried, the ball would just not go in, when they hosted Sao Paulo last weekend. Vasco’s double chance (1.42), “both teams to score” (1.90), and Vasco’s win (2.50) were the three tips here, but Vasco didn’t get something more than a 1-1 draw, despite being better than Sao Paulo, creating (and missing) more chances, and generally looking better on the pitch for most of the 90 minutes. They remain unbeaten in their last 10 matches, but they have won only one of the last five, drawing in the other four. They are sitting 8th in the table, a position that under certain circumstances (if Gremio win the Copa Libertadores and Flamengo do the same in the Copa Sudamericana) could mean a ticket for the qualifiers of next season’s Copa Libertadores. This remains to be seen.
“Both teams to score” (1.70), “over 2.5 combined goals” (1.95) and “both teams to score and over 2.5 combined goals” (2.20) were the three tips here when Atletico Mineiro visited Bahia last weekend. The game ended in a 2-2 draw, and it could actually have had even more goals, since both teams missed a good number of chances, with both goalkeepers doing a very good job. Robinho was definitely the man of the match for Atletico, scoring both their goals, beautiful goals, clever goals. In the first one, in the 5th minute (0-1), he didn’t even look at the goal, he had his head turned to the right, but chipped the ball perfectly above the goalkeeper. Then, in the 74th minute (2-2), he received the ball with his chest, and kicked it gently without letting it fall on the ground. Both goals, reminders of his class. It’s… incredible what has been going on with him lately. He had scored once in May, at the very start of the season. Up until early October that was his only goal in the championship. Since then, he has scored in three matches, netting two goals in each of those three games, against Atletico Paranaense, Cruzeiro, and now, Bahia. Atletico are sitting 10th in the table, occupying, at this point, a spot that leads to next season’s Copa Sudamericana.

Vasco da Gama vs Atletico Mineiro: Head to head Stats
Two wins for Vasco, one for Atletico, and two draws, in the last five games between these two in Rio de Janeiro. Only one of those five matches went over 2.5 goals.
Vasco da Gama vs Atletico Mineiro: Prediction
The fact that both teams are given almost the same chances to win, gives you an idea how tight this game is expected to be. Personally, I’m leaving winners and losers aside, and I’m going with goals instead.
Vasco da Gama vs Atletico Mineiro: Betting Tips
“Both teams to score” pays 1.80, and I like it a lot. Pushing it a little bit, I would go for “over 2.5 goals”, at 2.00 betting odds, which pays even better if you combine it with “both teams to score”.
