Vasco da Gama vs Cruzeiro
Competition: Copa Libertadores
Date: 3 May 2018
Kick-off: 02:45 CET
Vasco da Gama are with their back against the wall, but things could be even worse. Last week, they were losing 1-0 at home to Racing Club, and playing with 10 men after the 58th minute (defensive midfielder Leandro Desábato got sent-off, and is obviously unavailable). They managed to salvage a point, which kept them alive in the fight for a top 2 spot. One thing they have going for them, is that they didn’t play last weekend. They had a whole week to rest, prepare themselves for this… final. They are on two points from four matches, at the bottom of the table, but, they have drawn 0-0 at Cruzeiro, earlier in the group stage, so a simple 1-0 win in this game will give them the advantage over their fellow countrymen, boosting their chances of a top 2 finish.
Unlike Vasco, Cruzeiro did play last weekend, they drew 0-0 at Internacional, but they had several reserves in their lineup, with most regulars getting rested, so as to be fully fit to face Vasco. Cruzeiro are on five points from four matches. After their historic 7-0 triumph over Universidad de Chile last week. Their last group game is at home against Racing Club, who, by then, may have already qualified. As previously mentioned, they drew 0-0 to Vasco at home earlier in the group stage, meaning that if they lose, even just 1-0, they get in major-major trouble, as they will have the disadvantage in case they finish level on points with Vasco. We should expect to see pretty much the same first 11 who started the game against Universidad de Chile last week.

Vasco da Gama vs Cruzeiro: Head to head Stats
Just one victory for Vasco and four for Cruzeiro in the last five games between these two in Rio de Janeiro. All five matches went over 2.5 goals.
Vasco da Gama vs Cruzeiro: Prediction
The fact that Vasco absolutely must win, makes me feel that draw is the least probable result. If it’s 0-0 or 1-1 in the last 10 minutes, they will be attacking with 10 players, whatever that means about scoring or conceding. I don’t trust them. Despite their… heroics in the last half hour last week against Racing Club, I don’t trust them.
Vasco da Gama vs Cruzeiro: Betting Tips
Cruzeiro’s win pays 2.50. Their double chance is at 1.40. “Under 2.5 goals” is at 1.60, and I like it because the vast majority of Cruzeiro’s games the last 45 days have stayed under 2.5. They did score seven past Universidad de Chile, but most of those goals came after the Chileans were reduced to nine(!) men.
