Wanderers vs Corinthians
Competition: Copa Sudamericana
Date: 2 August 2019
Kick-off: 02:30 CET
“Corinthians and under 2.5 goals”, at 2.65, was the tip here last week, when Wanderers traveled to Sao Paulo. The Montevideo side did a decent job defending, they were losing 1-0 until the 86th minute, but that second goal they conceded has left them with a mountain to climb. Last weekend they lost again, at Fénix, 3-0, looking super vulnerable defensively. They were actually sort of lucky to concede “only” three goals. It gets even worse; Román Cuello cannot count on attacking midfielder Ignacio González and defensive midfielder Jonathan Barboza, as both are suspended. Two more midfielders, Axel Muller and Adrián Colombino, are not in the CONMEBOL list, so they are also unavailable. Cuello is left with little choice but to have Cristian Bravo, Bruno Veglio, Diego Riolfo and Nicolás Albarracín at midfield. Last but not least, centre-back Damián Macaluso is doubtful, because of an eye injury. He trained these last days wearing a protective mask, but it was obvious he felt uncomfortable. Then again, he is… well-known for going the extra mile when the team need him, so my guess is he will play.
Pedrinho’s goal in the 86th minute last Thursday was a big deal for Corinthians, who traveled to Uruguay having a big two-goal advantage. To make things even better, they beat Fortaleza last weekend 1-3 on the road, with Pedrinho scoring again Corinthians’ second goal. Actually, they were losing 1-0 until the 67th minute, but by the 81st they were 1-3 up(!). Fábio Carille is expected to have Cássio, Fagner, Gil, Manoel, Carlos Augusto, Gabriel, Matheus Jesus, Ramiro, Mateus Vital, Clayson and Vagner Love in the starting lineup. Several usually regulars are missing, and that’s because Corinthians have a “special” game coming up, Sao Paulo’s biggest derby between them and Palmeiras. Obviously they want to qualify for the next Sudamericana round, but that advantage they earned in the first leg allows their coach to rest some key players.

Wanderers vs Corinthians: Head to head Stats
Last week’s game was the first ever between these two.
Wanderers vs Corinthians: Prediction
Corinthians are considered favorites to win. Deep down I do see them win, but I prefer to bet on goals.
Wanderers vs Corinthians: Betting Tips
“Over 2.5 goals” is at 2.60, which I like, expecting Corinthians to score twice, and a third goal to come from either side. Corinthians’ double chance combined with “over 1.5” is at 1.91.
