Warrington Wolves vs Brisbane Broncos
Competition: World Club Series
Date: 18th February 2017
Venue: Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington
Kickoff: 21:00 CET
Last seasons’ champions, the Wolves, take on 2015 runners up from the NRL the Broncos in what is sure to be a classic match, for one leg of the 2017 World Club Championship. The Wolves are positioned well after a strong 1st week of the Super League whilst, the Broncos had a fine Auckland Nines preparation, though have done little in the way of readying themselves for a full 80 minutes.
Overall, on paper, the Broncos are clear favourites with the squad they are sending to the northern hemisphere, although this type of thinking has failed greatly in the past. Warrington were outdone by the new look Catalans outfit on the opening weekend of the Super League, with an all too familiar foe, name Greg Bird.
The Broncos must be favourites due to their paper team they are sending led by legendary fullback, Darius Boyd and superstar forwards such as Sam Thaiday and Adam Blair. While the Warrington squad is headlined by former NRL star Kurt Gidley and half Kevin Brown.
Warrington Wolves vs Brisbane Broncos: Head to Head Stats
Neither team has played each other recently, and both have had rather good form in the leadup to what should be a cracking encounter.
Warrington Wolves vs Brisbane Broncos: Prediction
The Broncos are favourites due to their ultimate strength across the board, even though they are the visitors and have not had a great deal of time to adjust to the cold conditions. Warrington were ordinary against Catalans and have no real standout strengths that are comparable to the mighty Broncos, who are ultimately in the first few lines of betting in the superior NRL competition.
Overall, the likes of Boyd, Oates, Milford, Thaiday and company are going to be a frightening task for the Wolves, and they will try gallantly only to fall short of winning. Cold conditions will play a part, but there are too many experienced players in the Broncos outfit for this to be a telling factor.
Warrington Wolves vs Brisbane Broncos: Tips
