Watford vs Newcastle
Competition: England Premier League
Date: 29 December 2018
Kick-off: 16:00 CET
As predicted here, Watford lost to Chelsea midweek, and conceded more than once. Roberto Pereyra’s goal deep into added time in the first half made it 1-1 for the hosts, but they conceded again in the second half, and lost 1-2. Watford finished the game on 35% ball possession, 11 shots (one more than Chelsea), only two on target, and no less than 15 fouls conceded, as they tried… all possible ways to limit the Blues. They are 9th in the table, on 27 points. If there are no late surprises, they will start the game with Foster, Cathcart, Mariappa, Holebas, Kiko, Doucoure, Pereyra, Capoue, Deulofeu, Sema and Deeney. They have five guys out, injured; Prödl, Gray, Hughes, Peñaranda and Janmaat. They have won just one of their last four home matches, but their three defeats were to Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea.
Again as predicted here, Newcastle failed to score at Anfield midweek, and of course lost to Liverpool, 4-0. They went 1-0 down very early, and the game was pretty much over less than two minutes into the second half, when Liverpool scored again, from the penalty spot. Two more goals, late, made the Reds’ win even more resounding. Newcastle got stuck to 17 points, 15th in the table. They have now won just one of their last six matches, a 0-1 at Huddersfield Town. According to reports, they will start the game with Dubravka, Lascelles, Fernandez, Yedlin, Dummett, Ritchie, Diame, Hayden, Kenedy, Joselu and Muto. Three players are out, injured; Shelvey, Sterry and Lejeune.

Watford vs Newcastle: Head to head Stats
Watford have hosted Newcastle three times the last three years, and have beaten them all three. Before that, they had lost 1-2, back in 2010.
Watford vs Newcastle: Prediction
Watford are considered relatively clear favorites to win the game, but I’m going against the odds, backing Newcastle to earn at least a draw. They got destroyed midweek at Anfield, but before that they had stayed undefeated in four away matches in a row, including a 1-1 draw at Everton.
Watford vs Newcastle: Betting Tips
Newcastle’s double chance is at 2.02, with their win in “draw no bet” at 3.30.
