Werder Bremen vs Bayern Munich
Competition: Germany Bundesliga
Date: 1 December 2018
Kick-off: 15:30 CET
An added-time goal by Ludwig Augustinsson salvaged a point for Werder Bremen last weekend at Freiburg. They had been losing 1-0 since late in the first half. They are 7th in the table, on 18 points, but they have earned just one from their last four matches. Plus, they have conceded no less than 12 goals in those same four games. Pavlenka (their best player last weekend), Gebre Selassie, Veljkovic, Moisander, Augustinsson, Sahin, M. Eggestein, Klaassen, Osako, Kruse and J. Eggestein, these should be the first 11. Florian Kohfeldt cannot count on defensive midfielder Philipp Bargfrede, striker Fin Bartels, and center-forward Aron Johannsson. All three are injured.
Bayern Munich wasted two points in the most unbelievable way possible last weekend, hosting below-the-relegation-line Fortuna Dusseldorf. They took a 2-0 and 3-1 lead, but still got equalized, and the most… ridiculous of all is that the last two goals they conceded, in the second half, were products of counterattacks. Even deep into added time, they conceded on a counterattack, which feels… surreal, given that they were the ones leading, and had no reason having nine players in Fortuna’s half of the field, I repeat, deep into added time. Midweek, they destroyed Benfica 5-1 in the Champions League. They will be in the last-16 of that competition. Neuer, Rafinha, Süle, Hummels, Alaba, Kimmich, Robben, Müller, Goretzka, Ribery and Lewandowski, these should be the first 11. Kingsley Coman and Thiago Alcantara are very close to returning to action, having recovered from their injuries. James Rodríguez, Corentin Tolisso and Serge Gnabry have to spend more time on the sidelines. Bayern are 5th in the table, nine whole points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern have nine wins in a row visiting Werder(!). Last time the Bremen side avoided defeat at home, was in 2009, a goalless draw.

A simple Bayern win pays just 1.40. Their victory combined with “over 2.5 goals” is my tip, at 1.80.
