Wisla Plock vs Gornik Zabrze
Competition: Poland Ekstraklasa
Date: 9 February 2017
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
Wisla Plock earned a massive 2-0 win at Legia Warsaw just before the winter break, verifying once again that they are capable of… the best and the worst. They are sitting 9th in the Ekstraklasa table, right below the top-8, a spot in which is totally within their reach, not only because they are just one point behind three teams who are in the top-8, but also – mostly – because they have the roster to finish in the upper half of the table and compete for the positions that lead to the UEFA Europa League. Jerzy Brzeczek is still their coach, he took over a couple of days before the season started, and all in all he has done an… ok job. During the January transfer window they signed 24-year-old German goalkeeper Thomas Dähne, who should sooner or later become their regular keeper, taking Seweryn Kielpin’s place. They also signed Oskar Zawada, a 22-year-old Polish centre-forward. In their friendly games last month they had a mix of results, with their coach… experimenting a lot.
Gornik Zabrze had a fantastic first half of the season, until the last two weeks before the winter break. After triumphing in Krakow (3-2 at Wisla), they totally dropped the ball, drawing to Lechia Gdansk, losing at Arka Gdynia, and getting humiliated by Cracovia Krakow (0-4!!!!) in their last December match. They are third, just two points behind leaders Legia Warsaw. In their friendly games in January they had spectacular ups and downs. Marcin Brosz is obviously still their coach, it would have made no sense parting ways with him. They signed 22-year-old centre-back Paweł Bochniewicz from Udinese on loan until the end of the season. Generally, there were hardly any changes in their roster last month. Gornik had several spectacular performances in the first half of the season, but they desperately need to improve their defence. It’s… insane that they conceded 32 goals in 21 matches, more than half the teams in the lower half of the table.

Wisla Plock vs Gornik Zabrze: Prediction
Wisla Plock are considered relatively clear favourites to win the game. Personally, I’m leaving winners and losers aside, and I’m focusing on goals, expecting at least three.
Wisla Plock vs Gornik Zabrze: Betting Tips
“Over 2.5 combined goals” is at 1.85 betting odds, which I consider good enough to avoid risking with any other bet. Most Gornik matches in the first half of the season had many goals, and Wisla Plock have several players who can make things happens offensively, so I consider it very-very probable to have at least three goals in this match.
