Wolves vs Liverpool
Competition: England Premier League
Date: 21 December 2018
Kick-off: 21:00 CET
Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Bournemouth 2-0 at home last weekend, their third win in a row in the Premier League. Raúl Jiménez gave them an early lead, and Ivan Cavaleiro added the cherry on top in added time. Chelsea (at home) and Newcastle (away) were Wolves’ two previous… victims earlier this month. They are 7th in the table, on 25 points, just one behind Manchester United. They are expected to start with Rui Patricio, Bennett, Coady, Boly, Jonny, Doherty, Gibbs-White, Ruben Neves, Moutinho, Raúl Jiménez and Cavaleiro. Before winning their last two home games, Wolves had lost three in a row as hosts.
Liverpool… got Jose Mourinho fired(!). Their 3-1 over Manchester United last weekend proved to be the last stroke that broke the camel’s back. The Portuguese manager lost his job at Old Trafford, much to the relief of several United players… As for Liverpool, they went back up first in the table one point ahead of Manchester City (who had won a day earlier). Jurgen Klopp told reporters James Milner is fine and ready to start. Trent Alexander-Arnold’s case is different, he needs to stay patient. The Reds also have long-term absentees, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Rhian Brewster. According to reports, they will start this game with Alisson, Milner, Van Dijk, Lovren, Robertson, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Shaqiri, Mane, Salah and Firmino. As for Klopp, he also talked about the “battle” between his team and City, and told reporters that the only ones who can stop City from retaining their Premier League title are… City themselves.
