Worcester Warriors vs Bath
Competition: Aviva Premiership Rugby
Date: 15 April 2017
Kick-off: 16:00 CET
The host Worcester dont have much to play for in the remaining three rounds of the English Premiership as they currently sit second from the bottom of the log. They are just a few points ahead of Bristol who look set to be relegated after one season in the Premiership.
Worscester will be thankful that they’ve done enough to avoid the wooden spoon but they do need to make sure that they pick up a couple of wins in the remaining matches to avoid that possibility. They’ve got an eight point buffer ahead of Bristol. A couple of wins for the stragglers could put Worcester in the relegation zone.
They might be feeling the pinch as they have Bath, Newcastle and Leicester left to play this season and those teams will be very difficult to beat even at home. They also aren’t exactly brimming with confidence after back-to-back defeats to Sale and Wasps so they need a miracle this coming weekend.
On the flip side, Bath have everything to play for in the remaining rounds of the competition. They ended a three match losing streak with a good six point win over Leicester on the weekend which brought them level with the same team on the log. Leicester currently lie in fourth place but are level on points with Bath in fifth.
The top four teams go straight into semi final playoffs after the last round-robin fixtures so Bath need to get some good results, starting with this weekend’s clash against struggling Worcester.
The visitors will fancy themselves grabbing a win over their Northern hosts this weekend. Worcester haven’t been consistent and they’ve only won four of their nine home matches so Sixways Stadium is hardly a fortress.
They’ve got one eye on their European Challenge Cup semi final next week but they need to build up a head of steam in both competitions if they want to win some silverware this weekend. Nevertheless they should have plenty of firepower to beat the hosts.
Worcester Warriors vs Bath: Head-to-Head Stats
The history books tell a sorry tale for the hosts unfortunately as they’ve got more than 10 matches without a win over Bath. The visitors have won the last ten matches, while a couple of them went down to the wire.
Worcester Warriors vs Bath: Prediction
Worcester do have the benefit of home advantage but that won’t count for much against Bath. The visitors have an excellent pack and their backs have been in superb form – they’ll be looking for a bonus point win.
Worcester Warriors vs Bath: Tips
Jamie Joseph and Anthony Watson ran in tries for Bath against Leicester last weekend and it wouldn’t be surprising to see either one score a try this weekend as well.
