Xanthi vs Kerkyra
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 10 February 2018
Kick-off: 14:00 CET
Xanthi earned an important draw last weekend at Asteras Tripolis, a point that allowed them to stay 5th in the table, level on points with Asteras and Panionios. They were playing away from home against a direct rival in the fight for the 5th spot, so the fact that they didn’t lose was positive for them. In six matches in 2018 they have lost just once, and that was at Olympiakos. They have four wins and this draw at Asteras, making this their best run since the start of the season. They have even won back-to-back games at home, something they hadn’t done since… April 2017. They need to stay focused though. Against Platanias they almost got equalised in the last 10 minutes, despite making it 3-0 in the 78th minute. Then, against Levadiakos, they had to come from behind to earn all three points. They are not a team you can trust blindly, but somehow, recently, they have been getting the results they want/need.
Kerkyra are in even bigger trouble than a week ago, since they lost to Levadiakos, but Apollon earned a point at Platanias, meaning that Kerkyra are now second-to-last without… Apollon’s company. Midweek they signed two more players, who, though, have very little time to prove themselves. With 10 matches left, every single one is a final for Kerkyra. They did beat Platanias 2-0 at home two weeks ago, but that was the… absolute minimum they should do. To avoid relegation, they need to find points in games against teams not that better than them. Last time they got something out of such a game was in November, at Lamia, a 1-1 draw. Absolutely nothing is lost. Only two teams get relegated, and Apollon are not more than a single point higher than Kerkyra. Two good results in a row make them favourites to avoid relegation, but… they have to start that streak at some point, and in Xanthi… that feels highly improbable.

Xanthi vs Kerkyra: Prediction
As previously mentioned, I don’t trust Xanthi blindly, but… deep down I do expect them to win this game.
Xanthi vs Kerkyra: Betting Tips
A simple Xanthi win pays just 1.57. Despite looking very vulnerable defensively in their last home games, even against weak to… average opponents, this time I expect them to look much more solid defensively, and win while also keeping a clean sheet, a combination that pays 2.25.
