Xanthi vs Panionios
Competition: Greece Super League
Date: 10 November 2018
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
Xanthi feel… blessed to have found a striker on whom they can rely to score on a regular basis. Last weekend they beat Asteras Tripolis 0-1 away from home, with Erik Jendrišek scoring his seventh goal of the season in the Super League. He is one of the league’s two leading scorers (no matter if three of those seven goals have come from the penalty spot). Milan Rastavac doesn’t have defensive midfielder Pablo de Lucas and right winger Vasilis Fasidis at his disposal, as both players are injured. Xanthi have five wins in row, Super League and Cup combined, and haven’t lost since their debut in the championship (0-1, at home, to Panathinaikos). They have climbed up fourth(!) in the table, on 18 points, five behind leaders PAOK.
Panionios beat Panetolikos last weekend at home, 3-0, “finishing” the game in five minutes(!). That’s how long it took them after the first whistle to score not just once, but twice. Their third goal in the 28th minute put the game beyond Panetolikos’ reach for good. Awesome first half for Panionios, first win in three Super League matches, but there was some very bad news as well; defensive midfielder and captain Panagiotis Korbos broke his jaw, obviously he had to get substituted, had to undergo surgery, spent a couple of days hospitalized, and he may be out, but he’s definitely not expected to play again in 2018. Teammates of his visited him at the hospital, and the club announced they will be renewing his contract ahead of time. José Anigo’s team are 9th in the table, on 11 points from nine matches.

Xanthi vs Panionios: Head to head Stats
Three wins for Xanthi, one for Panionios, and a draw, in the last five games between these two in Xanthi.
Xanthi vs Panionios: Prediction
Xanthi have three wins in a row at home, but the last two were super tough. Panionios have lost twice on the road, but at AEK and Panathinaikos, two of the strongest teams in the country. The hosts are considered favorites to win, but I don’t trust them enough.
Xanthi vs Panionios: Betting Tips
Panionios’ double chance is at 1.75. It pays less than Xanthi’s win, but I feel it’s less risky. I’m staying with that, finding it very hard to wholeheartedly suggest something paying more than 2.00.
