BSC Young Boys vs CSKA Moscow match previews
Competition: UEFA Champions League qualifiers
Date: 15 August 2017
Kick-off: 20:45 CET
Young Boys Bern caused one of the biggest upsets of the qualifying rounds by eliminating Dynamo Kyiv, despite losing 3-1 in Ukraine in the first leg. The second goal they scored at home in the 89th minute gave them a… historic 2-0 win, secured them a spot in the Europa League’s group stage, and now have the chance to go all for all against an opponent even stronger that Dynamo Kyiv. On Saturday they won 3-0 at Breitenrain, in a knock-out match for Switzerland’s Cup, bouncing back from their shocking 4-0 defeat at home to Thun, in their last championship game. Young Boys had three wins in as many matches in the championship before they hosted Thun, they had their morale super boosted after eliminating Dynamo, but somehow they got totally outplayed, and had lost the game pretty much by halftime.
I doubt CSKA Moscow expected to eliminate AEK Athens that easily in the third qualifying round. Eliminate them, yes. That easy, no. They did, beating AEK twice, and most of all, 2-0 in Athens, in the first leg, making things very-very easy for them. Right after that, they lost 2-1 at home to Rubin Kazan’, but they bounced back, winning 2-1 at Tosno, and last weekend beating city rivals Spartak 2-1 at home. They now have 12 points in six matches in Russia’s championship, sitting in the fourth position in the table. That defeat to Rubin is the only game they didn’t win, looking back at their last six matches.

Young Boys vs CSKA Moscow: Prediction
For some reason, Young Boys are considered favorites to win, not big, but definitely favorites. I don’t see that. It’s only the first leg, but it was the first leg in Athens as well, and CSKA Moscow turned that game into a walk in the park. I expect the Russian side to get at least a draw.
Young Boys vs CSKA Moscow: Betting Tips
‘Draw or CSKA Moscow’ sits at 1.53 betting odds, not fantastic, but good indeed, given that it’s a double chance. Most of the games of both teams have gone ‘over 2.5 total goals’ in the last month, both when they won and when they lost. I expect neither team to keep a clean sheet , on the contrary I expect both teams to score. ‘Over 2.5’ in this game pays 1.85, better than CSKA Moscow’s double chance.
