Zaglebie Lubin vs Arka Gdynia
Competition: Poland Ekstraklasa
Date: 23 February 2017
Kick-off: 18:00 CET
Zaglebie Lubin are in deep trouble. In the first half of the season, they scored a lot, they conceded a lot, but, I repeat, they scored a lot, they created many chances in every game, and they had Jakub Szwierczok to send the ball in, or assist teammates. With the Polish striker gone, Zaglebie struggled offensively in their friendly matches. Against Legia Warsaw two weeks ago, they lost 3-2 at home, creating way less chances than (by their first half of the season standards) “normal”. At Wisla Plock last weekend, they had super few chances, basically two, both big ones, but… two. They lost 2-0, but given how the 90 minutes went, a more fitting result would have been… 4-1, and I give them one because both chances they created were really big. Still, it feels that they are the same unreliable defensively team of the first half of the season, having lost though their ability to create a chance every few minutes. If they don’t find solutions, I seriously doubt they will be in the top-8 by the end of the regular season. They are currently 9th, level on points with 8th-placed Arka Gdynia.
Pavels Šteinbors is not… David de Gea, but he is a more than “decent” goalkeeper, definitely one of the best in the Ekstraklasa. Last weekend, he looked… hypnotised, making his worst game since… probably last season. An isolated mistake is something you can’t hold against a keeper, it happens, but to make half a dozen mistakes, big ones, in the same game, that’s… unusual, especially for guys like Šteinbors. You can easily call him the man to point at for Arka Gdynia’s 3-2 defeat at Wisla Krakow last weekend. Arka didn’t… dazzle anyone with the football they played, they hardly ever do(…), but took advantage of Wisla’s defensive issues to score twice. Under normal circumstances, with Šteinbors being… Šteinbors, they would have won the game. They are 8th in the table, level on points with 9th-placed Zaglebie Lubin.

Zaglebie Lubin vs Arka Gdynia: Head to head Stats
Arka beat Zaglebie 3-1 last time they visited them. Before that, the Lubin side had four wins in a row, by a total score of 9-0(!).
Zaglebie Lubin vs Arka Gdynia: Prediction
I can’t imagine Šteinbors playing again the way he played last weekend. He is partly to credit with Arka having the second best defensive record in the league, his performance last weekend was the exception to the rule, and bottom line, I expect Arka to leave Lubin with a point.
Zaglebie Lubin vs Arka Gdynia: Betting Tips
I don’t trust Zaglebie to score more than once past Arka, and I don’t expect the visitors to score more than once either. Arka’s double chance is at 1.83 betting odds, and it’s my main tip. “Under 2.5 combined goals” pays 1.72, and suits my 0-0 or 1-1 hunch.
