Zalgiris Kaunas vs Galatasaray Istanbul
Date: 16th November 2016
Kick-off: 19:00 CET
The two worse teams in the entire Euroleague will be squaring off on Wednesday evening, as Zalgiris Kaunas will host Galatasaray Istanbul in a battle to avoid being dead last in the regular season table.
It has been a hard start of the 2016-17 Euroleague season for Zalgiris, as after splitting their first two games, the Lithuanians have lost four times in a row. Their last defeat was at the hands of Barcelona, where they managed to keep up with the pace of the Catalonians, but in the end just couldn’t close out the fourth quarter. It’s good for Zalgiris that they will be playing at home, but still they will have to work very hard if they are grab their second victory in the tournament.
Galatasaray started their Euroleague campaign a lot worse than Zalgiris, as they Turks lost five of their first five games. However, they managed to shocking defeat Olympiacos in the previous round, which will surely give them a lot of hope for Wednesday’s game against Zalgiris.

Zalgiris Kaunas vs Galatasaray Istanbul: Prediction
Despite the fact that it will be clash between the two worst teams in the entire Euroleague, don’t expect the match to be lacking excitement. Both squads will be fighting hard to evade the status of the worst club in the tournament and that’s quite enough to provide motivation for both sides.
Galatasaray have been pretty decent in terms of offense, but their defense has been nothing less of atrocious. The Istanbul club has allowed its opponents to score 95.3 points per game against them, which is the main reason why they haven’t had as many victories as they wish. Nonetheless, their defensive problems shouldn’t be too evident against Zalgiris, as the Lithuanians aren’t exactly famous for their offensive power – they average just 77.0 points per game. However, Galatasaray should keep an eye on Brock Motum, as the forward has played quite well in the past few matches.
Expect a win by the Istanbul club at the end, despite the fact that it will not be a dominant one.
