Zob Ahan vs Al Kuwait
Competition: AFC Champions League
Date: 12 February 2019
Kick-off: 16:30 CET
If you follow Asian football, Zob Ahan need no introduction; they are no Persepolis or Esteghlal, but they have managed to stay at a top level in Iran’s domestic competitions for years now, featuring regularly in the AFC Champions League as well. This is their 8th appearance in the competition. Last year they had to go through play-offs, then somehow managed to qualify for the last 16 despite finishing the group stage on seven points, not more, but in the first knock-out round they were unlucky to find compatriots Esteghlal opposite them. They did beat them 1-0 at home, but lost 3-1 in the return leg, and their season in the Champions League was over in May. They finished second last year in Iran’s championship. Their last game was a week ago, a goalless draw with Nassaji Mazandaran at home. They are doing very badly in their championship this season, they are close to the relegation line, on just 14 points from 16 matches.
Al Kuwait’s win in “draw no bet” (2.20) and their double chance (1.66) were my two tips last week when they visited Al Wehdat, and they delivered, winning 2-3. Incredibly, they were 2-0 down 31 minutes into the match, but, super important, they managed to equalize before halftime, and with the momentum on their side, then went on to score again, in the 68th minute, and win the match. If this game were taking place last year, or two years ago, in Iran, I wouldn’t be giving Al Kuwait any chance. Now, with Zob Ahan looking super… problematic, this may be Al Kuwait’s chance to make headlines.

Zob Ahan vs Al Kuwait: Prediction
Despite the hosts’ poor-poor form, I expect them to rise to the occasion, and win this game.
Zob Ahan vs Al Kuwait: Betting Tips
Zob Ahan’s win is at 1.75. It’s not fantastic, but I’m staying with that, unwilling to take a bigger risk, because of Zob Ahan’s far below-average season domestically.
