Zob Ahan vs Al Wahda
Competition: AFC Champions League
Date: 6 March 2018
Kick-off: 13:30 CET
Zob Ahan took perfect advantage of Lokomotiv Tashkent’s poor defending two weeks ago, beat them 2-0, starting hoping for a top-2 finish in the group. They were a bit lucky not to concede in the first half, but in the second they made Lokomotiv pay for their mistakes at the back. No intention to take anything away from them, but the final 2-0 is a bit deceiving, in the sense that it didn’t come thanks to their… imposing style of play, but mostly because of Lokomotiv’s poor defending (and in the case of the second goal, goalkeeping as well). Despite dropping two points a few days ago in Iran’s championship, they remain second in the table, 15 whole points behind leaders Persepolis, with three teams just a point below them.
Al Wahda lost 3-2 at home two weeks ago to Al Duhail, but personally, what… stayed with me the most from that match, is the way they scored their second goal in added time. It didn’t change much, it will maybe make a difference if they end up level on points with Al Duhail (which I seriously doubt), but… it’s really shocking to see such a ridiculous refereeing mistake, a double one. The referee gave a 101% non-existent penalty, and what makes his decision even more shocking is that the clear tackle on the ball (and the ball alone) happened in front of one of his assistants, who SHOULD have intervened. It was a ban-worthy (for the referee) decision, one that someone could go that far as to call “suspicious”. No points for Al Wahda in two group matches, so they’re with their back against the wall already.

Zob Ahan vs Al Wahda: Prediction
Zob Ahan should win, not because they are a fantastic team, but because they are hosting a rival that has looked like a joke in their first two group matches.
Zob Ahan vs Al Wahda: Betting Tips
Zob Ahan’s win pays 1.87, which I consider good enough to avoid risking further with special bets.
